Time to talk about E-motive portraits photography, as feature by Tachy-on on the last "cat-e-go-ries" series news.deviantart.com/article/20… and for another journal of recommending some brillinat work by under appreciated photographers on DA.
It's a big honor for me to be able to help in that way, both in words, and in action.
The ones of you that follow my journals, already know the format, so let's go...
I invite you to take a look with me, at 10 of my favorites Under my weekly spotlight.
*************
One of the most popular photographic themes on DA must be the category of Emotive portraits.
The one added value of the work in this category is that if in good conceptual or photojournalism you feel symbolic emotion, in Emotive portraits the emotion you feel is very personal. The idea is that the portrait reveals something very personal. The look in the eyes, the wrinkles, or the eyelashes, the smile, the soul as it reveals itself in the expression. When it's done right, the connection is immediate. You feel something - It could be affection, or despise, but you feel it, and that's effective.
The secret to a good Emotive portrait work is not as commonly considered, the model.
Of course the model is important, but I believe that a good photographer can tell a touching story about every one of us, if he does it right. Emotive portraits have to do a lot with technique – Light, angles, composition, and focus. But, not technique is the secret either. IMHO the secret is in the answer to the question: "What is it that I want to tell you about this man (or woman)?" After you answered that question, all you have to do is use all you got to show that special emotion. When it's done right, it's hard to find something as touching a face with a story.
Before getting to my favorite in this category, let me digress for a second and say that Emotive portraits are even a little too much popular in DA. Not because this is not a worthy theme, it is. Because it seems to me (in my humble opinion) that even average and banal portraits are considered Emotive and getting much too much attention and popularity. I would like to see higher standards in that theme. We would only get better by challenging ourselves to do the best we can, right?

Now, this is what I'm talking about.
You can see so much in this.
Basically, this is minimal and simple. But when you concentrate enough, the spirit runs wild. The body tone and look in the eyes. Nothing else needed to be said.

The decision to shoot this portrait this way is exiting. This is the beauty of a photographer work. This could have been done in thousend different variations, and the fact it was done like that is telling us a story. The story itself is hiding in our interpatation. brilliant piece of photography.

Technique.
Not just the thechnique of hitting a ball with a small stick. The technique of capturing it in this sharpness and freezing time to a small portion faster than than the time it takes us to breath. Sit back and examine the details captured here. The dynamics. WOW

The concept, the start of it all
First, I would like refresh your memory about this little project I've been doing. It all started one day, when I got to my e-mail two power point shows with "The Best Pictures You Will Ever See" bla bla bla... you probably know the kind that goes all through the web. I was very surprised to open them and find a few of my works inside.
No credit to me, no nothing.

DA Thoughts
You know,
I don't have much time, as I would like to have, to be as active on DA as I would like to (and I would like to). Still, I have some things I think I always try and do with my time here, and I would like to recommend them to you as well...
And these are the things:
1. Go through fresh photography and art.
You know, some might forget we need good inspiration in order to create.
The Ideas can come from nothing, but sometimes you see something, and it gives you an idea for a spin, of something else. Use fresh talents for that "brain storming".
2. Give feedback and support for young artists.
We all were new, we all struggled for
The Beijing Special
This week, a special journal to conclude the wonderful Olympics in Beijing 2008.
I don't know if you followed but It was a wonderful event with many unforgotten moments (Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps on the good, and Angel Valodia Matos on the bad). For sports fans around the world it was a time of glory, but also for the ones that simply loves to enjoy the human struggle and journey. The sadness and the endless effort along with the moment of triumph. So, this week I collected a special of those moments.
This week I bring you the photographic highlights of Beijing 2008. Enjoy.
