Where I disappeared to

Gilad's Journal

Hello there :)
I got many comments and notes lately about my absence the last week or so.. Before getting to the point of where I've been, let me say that once again I was overwhelmed to realize how friendly and supportive people are in this community. I mean, I've been only away for about a week and I was so missed that it makes me very appreciative of all that love. I've been here for more than three years, and to think that one week is enough to make people miss me, is a wonderful compliment.

And to where I disappeared to... I was at Marseille, France.
I had an exhibition there and in Sanary, and so I was invited to Marseille and to Sanary (South of France, Provence). It was a great experience.
I used that opportunity to invite my mother and two brothers with me to France. My mother fled to France after the Second World War and was in Marseille for a while, before settling in Israel. It was the first time for her outside of Israel in over 40 years, and it was a closer for her returning there after she survived the holocaust with her three kids (while I was invited for an exhibition and honored by the mare was the icing on the cake for her). It was very emotional and an experience I will always be grateful to be a part of. So we were the Center Flag (The ones that produced the exhibition and invited me) VIP visitors, and they showed us around the city, and for the rest of the time we took a car and drove all around the French Riviera. WOW... France is beautiful, and the people were very nice (though they don't know a word in English, what was hard to get along with). I'm sure you will see photos soon ;)

Now, I invite you to take a look with me, at 10 of my favorites Under my weekly spotlight

Great capture, very well planned.
The surreal feeling of seeing someone from that angle captures the dynamics and freezes time.

Great shot taken in a live concert.
The light and pose, and also the technique.. all is good here.
A great symbol that can be used for rock concerts everywhere

First, I would like to say that I had a different picture here in the original post, that turned out to be ripped. This opened the possibilty for this wonderful work. I love the original way to sum all the different pieces of life into one frame. I can get lost and really get an idea about this life. Beautiful.

A wonderful shot, perfectly timed.
The point of view, and the blurred visitor from the back, perfectly located in the composition. It's not only a great animal shot, but a perfectly timed moment.

well, you can dramatise here and there right? poetic freedom and stuff like that.

if you ever have the time, you should read "the world according to garp" by John Irving, it's a fabulous book, with lot's of humour but also drama. If i would ever write a book about a person, I would try and make it look like that.

it doesn't have to be all about you, i bet you could fill at least 5 chapters about what your mom went through... I don't know

I'm not an artist or photographer myself. I'm your average woman with an appreciation for art that is moving and has depth. I just looked through your entire gallery, and was moved by your gift. How amazing that you bring such beauty to even the dark.
