Hello my friends,
As usual, my weekly spotlight shows wonderful overlooked work from around DA.
I do what I can to help and support the community, but frankly sometimes I feel I should just concentrate on myself, since I feel some of the "artist" I support turn out to be simply rip-of artists. I mean, If I'm able to direct so much traffic, and it turns out that I promote someone that ripped the true artist, I damage the community, not help it.
I mean, I have no real way of checking ahead to see if the piece is really taken by the artist. I can't do more than send a note, check the average level of the artist, etc' and even that can't really tell you the truth.
You want an example?
Last journal I promoted a wonderful photo and brought it more that 500 page views, when I learned it could be a rip-of. I've sent notes to the "original" artist (the one suspected to be the earlier submission) and the one I promoted. I gave them 3 days to reply, I saw they were on-line and haven't commented, and then notified the admin, and it was removed from the site. Still, I feel bad I brought so much traffic to the ripping artist. Some of the visitors will never know that the piece I recommended, was actually someone's else... that saddens me.
What do you think?
Now, I invite you to take a look with me, at 10 of my favorites Under my weekly spotlight

One of the best shots I've seen lately.
Creative double exposure in film. Takes alot of technique, and imagination. I simply love it.

Brilliant work by a photographer I only recently found.
Photographs from Croatia taken with a wonderful style, capturing the world in a unique style and point of view. Superb technique.
You just have to see this shot to understand what I mean.

"No reason to live" is the title of this one.
The title helps direct the viewer into the state of mind of the artist.
It takes you deeper. Bravo!

Moody abstract, like I like so much.
After a short while you see what's going on, and then you understand what the photographer did. So simple, and so effective

Very creative technique.
This one is a part of a series all painted by light.
Only the painting is not the subject, but the background, with the subject being the silhouette.. brilliant! Check it out

A picture can speak a thousand words.. it can add a hug as well.
A "Homey" shot, that really puts a smile on the face.

Very atristic, very beautiful.
It takes an artist to see a photo in a place like that.

This is brilliant in my opinion.
The B&W and the movement of the "dotted B&W" dog created a pleasing visual photo. This is one I would hang on my wall. It reminds me of the depth of beauty around us, and the layers of artistic vision we can use to discover it. Second bravo this week!

It's amazing to see how much beauty and quality is passed un-noticed here in all one week. I hope that more great work will get noticed here. It's up to us. Use the comments favorites power to support the un-noticed.
Keep supporting!

if absolute power corrupts absolutely, and god is 'all powerful' then is god absolutely corrupted?
There is NO artistry in what they do. Call a spade a spade and call them thieves. Does DAadmin ban them as well as removing the dev.. if not they should.
Your spotlight just keeps exceeding itself BTW! Go true artists!
