Sketches of Nature by gilad Sketches of Nature by gilad
The world stretches as canvas
To the wonderful sketches of god
A delicate touch of light
Bounces of the dark of nature soul
To be painted into our spirits
As art

After alot of comments and questions, I want to make it clear:
There is NO manipulation.
It's simply B&W and a bit more contrast.

You are scared of me
And you hate me
I can see it now
But why
Why do you hate me
You see me as a representation of death
A messenger of evil
An omen of distraught
You hate me for
The color of my feathers
The way I find my food
You call me a scavenger
And you look at me with disgust
You hate me for the way
Mother Nature created me
I had no choice in my heritage
So please
Do not hate me
For I cannot change
The color of my feathers

your comment is so good that it's worth placeing it wright between the bird and the uprising side of the branch,on the top of the pict, a little bit to the left, using a romantic form like comercial script BT font(from MS Word), perhaps itallic form...

Isn't contrast adjustment manip?

No, it's basic editing.
Anyway, if you want to call it manipulation you can

So where does basic editing end and manip begin? I don't know "the rules".

Anything you can do in a traditional film darkroom can be done with Photoshop and still be called photography.

You can adjust all sorts of things like colour, exposure, contrast, saturation, dodge & burn, and even apply some lens correction and obviously clone out any deficiencies.

Nowadays photography is all abuot technical excellence. A straight-out-of-the-camera shot is usually dull, this is to preserve as much contrast as possible. This means that the photographer is forced to post-process to "bring out" the colours from the shot. On compact digitals this process is left out and the camera applies lots and lots of contrast, digital sharpening to make a picture appear more crisp, and lots of over saturation.

For eyes used to seeing conservative colours not yet ready for printing, this kind of thing is frowned upon and these types of cameras scorned upon.

Gladly my eyes aren't too used to dSLR photos yet, so I don't mind the extreme contrast of these types of cameras yet. :)

They're strange fellas these photographers ;p

Ah. I get it. I'm not a photpgrapher, and also I grew up surrounded by all this digital buggery - it seems like the norm to me. I thought manip referred to a picture which has been changed *at all* since being put on the film or detecting the photons, or inverting the negative or whatever is the "birth" of any one photo.

I get what you mean... however you must realise that post-processing is the other half of the story.

you did it.
you went beyond what people see and captured what it truly is.
how you did this, i do not know but you most deffinitely have done so.
and that lovely comment ties it in.
this is so beautiful.
it may appear to be in black and white but the emotions it emits are so deeply colorful.
may i ask, what kind of bird is it?
>he looks very wise.<
i know you don't know me and to be honest, i'm really not an artist but, i think there's something mysteriously wonderful about birds and i don't believe i've ever seen a piece on a bird done so beautifully before so i thought i'd let you know. this is amazing. it really is.
