I know a man, a strange man.
He believed in love, but for all the wrong reasons.
He loved his girl so much, that he wanted to do anything for her.

Once, when they just got to know each other, she told him her ex-boyfriend has promised her the moon.
At that moment the man looked out the window at the empty sky and said to her: "I love you more than any man alive. I promise I will bring you the sun".
Since that moment he became obsessed with capturing the sun for his love, with bringing her the sun rapped in a beautiful wreath of clouds.
But capturing the sun is not a simple task. He looked for evidence of people who got near the sun, but found none. He knew he had to dedicate his life to fulfill his promise to his love.
He went traveling to all the hottest places on the face of the earth, but he was nowhere near the sun. He tried flying, skydiving, parachuting, climbing on the highest mountains. Every time he thought he is getting near the sun, he found out he is just as far as he was when he started.

And the girl?
His girl waited at home for him.
She didn't care for the sun. She thought that the sun belongs in the sky. What will she do with a burning sun anyway?

But he promised, and so he went for the sun on long journeys. He traveled by boats to the heart of the sea, where the sun sets, trying to follow it around.
Every time he saw the sun going down on the west, he traveled east to try and catch it rising up, but he always missed it. So he tried waiting for it on the west, but the sun always seems to be more to the west than him.

But while he trying to get her the sun, the man's girl despaired. She stopped waiting for her man, for her lover. She wanted a man that could give her himself, instead of a heroic dream.
When the man returned from his journey, he found a note saying she went of to find someone that could get her something she really wants, and not just satisfy his silly dreams.

The man felt his world collapsing. Years of trying to give her the best this world has to offer, a personal sun, have gone to waste. He packed his fishing rod and went to sit by the sea, and reflect on what he had, and lost. The wind was blowing in his face, drying his tears. Suddenly he noticed the sun peeking through the clouds. The sun was never as close to him as it was just then.
He knew this is his last chance to get the sun and win his girl back.
He threw his fishing rod to the sun, fighting the wind, and stretching his body to reach the sun. Suddenly he felt something grabbing to his string. He lost his balance in a flash. He body was wet, but he felt his face getting hot.
He opened his eyes and he saw the sun. Glowing in his face, passing him on it's way into the water, going to sleep for the night.
All he had to do is reach his hands and grab it, but instead he closed his eyes, and enjoyed its warmth and imagined his girl smiling at him, hugging him in the dark.
When he opened his eyes, it was dark, and he swam up to the water surface.
He swam, and then walked to the beach, and there on the sand, he saw his girl.
Silently she hugged him, and wrapped a towel around his shoulders.
"It's only now that I know you love me for the right reasons".

One year later, they had a son. They called him Sunny.

The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely. All art is quite useless.
