Faith Variation by gilad Faith Variation by gilad

I don't know if you hear me now, or if you even bother to try and listen
What I have to say won't take a second, whether you are listening or not.
You let us die, you let us kill each other, I'm sure you have your reasons.
Please, just take care of my family, of my kid.
I beg of you, Just him, even if all else fails.

For that small request, I live in your shadow.

****
I want to dedicate this to my dear dad, that passed away three weeks ago.
I know that in his prayers, he always just wanted the best for his familt, for his kids.
The love of god, is a tool in the profilment of the world we live in. He is in a different world now, and now I pray for him.

And now, the picture:
In the jewish religion there is a belief that while saying a prayer, the hands must stay above the waist line, since everything benith it is forbidden in that sense. It doesn't make much sense to me, but it does for the believers.
Anyway, that's why while saying prayers they use a lacing strapped over the waist to play with, and make sure it's not going below the waist.

Full View, Please

Hi There! :wave:
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D.(^oibyrd's daily devs) feature :winner: ! congrats! !! :clap:
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure and also, to introduce the more popular artists to the new/overlooked deviants. I prefer to showcase ALL artwork that I love (and that includes popular artists with a fair amount of traffic to their work) in order to create a non-biased feature of the talent on dA. *PLZ DO KEEP IN MIND - some of the features are quite popular and obviously don't need extra help - however - I enjoy posting them because they inspire other artists. Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! Sandi xoxo

In my search for images evoking faith...I come across this one and wonder - why on earth is this a scrap?
It's beautiful - both the description and the image. I hope you are okay with me showing it - it's a very touching image to say the very VERY least...
...but when I read your description...you damn nearly had me in tears.
:cling: even though this is way late in the game - I offer my heartfelt condolences - and the utmost respect for being one of the select few on this site that I not only admire, but feel a certain affinity to your work. Each capture is so captivating, it makes me wonder if you ever make mistakes lol. ;) xoxoxo cheers love. this is gorgeous.

that is so interesting
but doesn't playing with the strap around the waist distract from the actual intent of focusing on prayer

It's the least of the things that can distract someone who sais the prayer so much, he knows it by heart.

you have a point, i suppose it's like the rosary....is there a specific number of times that the prayer should be said?

It isn't much different with many sets of muslims here, they keep their hands above the waist, but some people don't do it... malikis and most shias for all i know never do it, the rest do so.... interesting how abrahamic religions sometimes are very similar in the most unnoticeable things... :)

This is among your best work, in my humble opinion. The text that goes with it is just as powerful, if not more-so, than the photo itself. It mirrors my belief in what goes on "up there", with not nessicarily being listened to, but just abiding in the pressence... makes you feel small. I'm deeply sorry for the loss you've suffered, Gilad, and I can only hope that your life is still enriched with the lessons he taught you, and the knowlege that someday, you'll see him again.

Very powerful and original picture. I am very sorry about your father and i wish him well in the other realm. Few have the power to capture such emotion in something as simple as a photograph.

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate.
May he rest in peace :)
:cuddle:

That's a rather interesting rite/belief
I have never heard of it before.

Give care :)
