Electric Avenue by gilad Electric Avenue by gilad
The place is "Hadera lake" in Israel.
Baisicly it's an electrical factory located on a beautiful wild beach. To make it look more friendly (ha!) the factory (which is sponsered by the Israeli goverment) built a little lake and park under it's hudge chimneyes (that you can find in other pictures in my gallery, like "Chimney Beach").
Does it work, do people think it's a small piece of heaven, or just a sureal joke?
See for yourself.

This panorama is stitched from 5 vertical frames.
I added tones to the sky. If you want to see the original ---> [link]

it looks as wonderful on the original one... :)
just that the toned sky here
makes the factory look more monster-like by giving it the atmosphere.
hehe

i can feel the serenity from the reflections in the lake...
then i'll subconsciously move my eyes to
the palm(?) trees lined up around the factory.
then slowly my eyes would move to those tall chimneys;
and i'll be pulled back into reality about the destructive ugliness of development.
i like the effect this paranoma has on my viewing sequence of this photo.
one thing leading to another...
and that concrete slab on the left corner of the photo just makes it so... cold and dead.

great concept. :)

Your work is amazing, it really is, and i have so very many questions,
do you use filters? how do you get that almost peircing light through the clouds?
did you use a tripod? did you go to this spot specificly for this photo, or was this just
one in a series from a normal session?

sorry for the influx of questions, i would just love my pictures to come out as beautifully as yours.
thank you.

Mathew.

I did use a polorizer.
The light through the clouds is the effect you get when the sun is peircing through the clouds :)
I didn't use a tripod on this one.
I was there to capture the dramatic clouds in a good location, and when I saw how it looks, the panorama came very naturally :)

The main reason this looks so dramatic is the light metering from the sky and not the ground. This gives the dramatic balance to the frame.

I love the social relevance of this picture.

The ominous stacks echoing with the beautiful palm trees make it look like the chimenies are trying (unsuccessfully) to hide.

Very cool.

The depiction of this panoramic is simply magnificent.
Good angle of taking, beautiful chromatic and structural composition.
