After The Storm by gilad After The Storm by gilad

It's just one of these storms
One of those head on stroms
A storm that leaves you no option
But to go through it

I went through it myself,
Fighting my demons on the right to survive
I made war with the rain,
I ran againts the wind

I know I made it through
And I get to live another day
The wind didn't break my spirit
The rain didn't drown me in it's tears

I forgot my past
But I do know looking back
I'm a better man just for passing through it
After the storm. . .

****

Heading into a storm

Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm

If you want to know more about how I got the lighting for that, read this [link]

The poem doesn't have to be the person in the photo...
I use the writing for atmosphere and concept, not to describe the photo.
Thank you :)

great colors.
This sigma 10-20 is always in my mind, they say it produces warmer colors than the Canon 10-22 alternative. Do you have any experience with the Canon 10-22mm?

this reminds me a lot of the painting The Scream for the setting alone, and in that sense the photograph become part of an abstract thought simply by the symbolic allusion. There is also a sense of mystery with the model and the audience is almost prompted to explore it because of the use of bright colours drawing their attention to him (her?).

There is also something frightening in the face that makes you want to look closer and draw back at the same time.

It really is an amazing piece that deserves the attention it has drawn. Well done :+fav:

Your dedication to perfect lighting is admirable. This is an amazing photo. The power of emotion from something as simple as her hair blowing into her face as she walks toward the camera...I would never have imagined. Very emotional piece, and when combined with the words it almost feels like therapy or some sort of mental release for me.

Im going to search your gallery for a bad picture... I dont think there is one o.O

The way this is composed, the angle, the detail, the colors, the hue. You have really mastered the camera.

You've inspired me to visit that bridge one day... It seems very versatile from the pictures you've taken so far. And I can't help wondering what things would look like if it were a shilloutte of person standing against the cloud... (I notice from your previous pictures that most seem to use a flash, if I'm mistaken I apologise >_<;) All in all, a lovely work =D.

I love using shilhouettes, but you need a strong contrast to get a good effect.
Since the light coming from behind is not a strong one the image would look to dark with no main clear subject. The flash made the balance I needed. If the light was strong enough, I would have tried a shilhouette as well :)

Thank you

And something tells me that with such good judgement and ideas, we might just be seeing that bridge on a few more DD's yet ;)

^^ I can't quite believe my luck, first you teach me about the usage of shilhouettes, and then in your very next deviation you've shown us all exactly how it's done. Brilliant stuff :). (I was going to comment on the deviation itself, but I thought it would be more appropriate to leave one here where it would be in context instead)
